Unusual materials have almost always guided the imagery in Elayne's art work, thus "mixed media" usually describes her medium. In recent years she has painted in encaustics and fabricated one-of-a-kind necklaces, which she calls "Unusual Adornments." These necklaces are meant to be elegant or humorous in entirely wearable jewelry.

In addition to working in her studio, Elayne has collaborated with fellow artists making art for public sites in Tacoma and Seattle. Solo shows of her work have been held at the Linda Hodges Gallery in Seattle, the University of Washington Meany Art Gallery, and the Green River Community College Art Gallery. Her work has also been exhibited in numerous group shows, including the Seattle Art Museum, the Tacoma Art Museum, the Bellevue Art Museum, and the Foster White Gallery in Seattle.

Elayne received her B.A. degree from the University of Michigan and her Masters of Fine Arts degree from the University of Washington.
